The Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND)

We are currently collaborating with a large network of researchers across Canada to find environmental, psychological, and neurobiological predictors of response to treatment, and risk for recurrence, in individuals with major depression. The hope with this project is that it will lead to more effective assignment of patients to the treatments that will work best for them. Our lab is playing a leading role in providing detailed and fine-grained assessment of stressful life events in childhood and adulthood that may moderate the effect of psychological and neurobiological predictors of depression.

This study is funded by the Ontario Brain Institute (OBI).

We are collaborating with CAN-BIND on three studies:

  1. Assessing and mitigating the mental health effects of COVID-19 on individuals with and without depression

  2. Optimized predictive treatment In medications for unipolar major depression (OPTIMUM-D)

  3. Personalized indications for cognitive behavioural therapy and anti-depressants in the treatment of major depressive disorder and persistent depressive disorder
